This design was introduced in 1969 firstly on the Clubman models, then later on the Mini Saloons. On the early seats, the welded section was sewn into the face of the seat, whereas on the later models, the welded face is made up as one complete section. The earlier seats have larger amounts of padding and because of this, it is recommended that new foams are fitted at the same time as these seat covers.
